How home care is funded
Most families pay for home care privately. But depending on your loved one's financial and care needs, there may be other options available. This page explains the main funding routes clearly.
Paying privately
Many families fund home care directly. If your loved one's savings and income are above the local authority threshold, they will typically need to fund care themselves.
We publish our rates in full on the Pricing page. Your free assessment confirms the total weekly cost in writing before anything starts, so you can plan with accurate information.
Direct payments from the council
If your loved one has had a care needs assessment from Warwickshire County Council and been assessed as eligible for funded support, they may be offered a direct payment, money paid directly to them (or a nominated person) to arrange their own care.
If they receive a direct payment, they are free to choose their own care provider. They can choose Orbis Care. We can accept direct payment clients and will work with you to make the process straightforward.
This is different from being allocated a council-arranged care package. With a direct payment, the choice of provider is yours.
Council-commissioned care
If your loved one has been assessed as eligible for funded care and the council arranges the care package directly, they will be placed with a provider on the council's approved list.
Orbis Care is a contracted provider with Warwickshire County Council. If you would prefer us to deliver your loved one's care, you or your loved one's social worker can request us by name. This is not guaranteed, the council makes the final placement decision, but making the request is reasonable and we would encourage it.
