End of life care at home, on your loved one's terms

When someone is nearing the end of their life, where they are matters. We provide compassionate, specialist support that allows your loved one to stay at home, comfortable, cared for, and surrounded by the people and places that matter to them.

Most people want to be at home

The majority of people say they would choose to die at home if they could. In practice, many do not, not because home care is impossible, but because the right support is not always in place in time.

We work with families to make it possible: coordinating with GPs, district nurses, and hospice teams to ensure care at home is continuous, safe, and shaped around your loved one's wishes.

We cannot always change the outcome. But we can make the experience of it as good as it can be.

Comfort and dignity, not a checklist

Palliative care with Orbis is built around three things: comfort, dignity, and the wishes of the person receiving care and their family.

Our carers are trained in end of life care. They understand what this period asks of everyone involved, the person being cared for, the family around them, and the professionals supporting them. They know when to act and when to simply be present.

We work closely with local hospice services, district nurses, and GP practices. We do not operate in isolation, we are part of a wider network of care around your loved one, and we communicate clearly with everyone involved.

What we can help with

  • Personal care

Washing, dressing, and personal hygiene, carried out with care and sensitivity.

  • Medication support

Prompt administration and accurate recording, working in line with GP and nurse instructions.

  • Comfort care

Help with positioning, pressure area management, and keeping your loved one comfortable through the day and night.

  • Meals and nutrition

Small, manageable meals and drinks prepared to your loved one's preferences and appetite.

  • Companionship

Someone to sit with, to talk to, or simply to be present. Not everyone wants conversation. Sometimes being there is enough.

  • Overnight support

Sleeping or waking night cover so your loved one is never alone through the night, and you can rest.

  • Family respite

Relief for family carers who are doing an enormous amount. We make it possible to step away and know your loved one is in safe hands.

  • Coordination with other services

We liaise with district nurses, GPs, and hospice teams as part of the care around your loved one.

This is hard. We know that.

Caring for someone at end of life is one of the most demanding things a family can do, practically and emotionally. We take as much of the practical weight as we can.

Our phone lines are monitored every day from 7am to 10pm. If something changes overnight or over the weekend, there is always someone to reach.

We use a family app that gives relatives real-time visibility of every care visit. If you cannot be with your loved one and need to know how they are, you can see for yourself.

When the time comes, we will support the family through the immediate period afterwards, practically and with kindness.
